Cassandra Soniat-Boyd is a Southeastern Louisiana University graduate, with a bachelor’s in Fine Arts and a minor in Dance. She was a member of the LSU Dance Ensemble for two semesters before transferring to SELU. She received the “Outstanding Dancer” award from her high school dance team each of the four years she attended. Cassandra was also named captain of the dance team her senior year. She received most of her dance instruction from Phyllis Guy Dance Center (PGDC), where she attended for 15 years. In 2006, she was awarded PGDC Dancer of the Year. During her time there, Cassandra was a prime soloist in 5 recitals, landing the lead role in 2008, as Belle in Beauty and the Beast. By age 14, Cassandra began studying with Kris Cangelosi, and from 2011 to 2012, she was a member of the Cangelosi Dance Project Ballet Ensemble. Over the years, Cassandra has attended numerous dance workshops with nationally recognized teachers & choreographers, receiving the overall-high-score Awards at various Regional & National Conventions. At age 16, Cassandra attended Dance Master’s Student Honors Intensive Program in New York and was also accepted to the American Ballet Theater’s Summer Intensive Program in Los Angeles. After she graduated high school, Cassandra began teaching Ballet and Contemporary at Carries 5,6,7,8 Dance Studio. She then began teaching at PGDC for the next three years. In 2015, Cassandra branched out to Zachary and Central Louisiana, where she began teaching at Molly Myer’s Dance Academy and RAVE Performing Arts Center. Cassandra currently still teaches Ballet and Contemporary at RAVE, and she is also the Talented Art teacher at Central Middle School. This is Cassandra’s first year dancing with Of Moving Colors.
