Event: Artist Talks With the Arts Council

Of Moving Color's Artistic Director, Garland Goodwin Wilson will be highlighted in the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge's Zoom Artist Talks on Thursday, June 4th.

During this moment of social distancing, artists and their communities need to stay connected and informed. Renee Chatelain, president and CEO of the Arts Council, has created a space for just that.

Every Thursday, Baton Rouge artists speak about their artistic endeavors and how those endeavors have shifted since the beginning of this pandemic. Because of the swift change to an entirely virtual art form, artists have been given a new creative challenge that, when done well, has the potential to be widely received. Last week, Theatre Baton Rouge discussed their live virtual performance and how it gained national reception. This week, OMC's own, Garland Goodwin Wilson, will take the stage and discuss the rebranding and reworking of City Bound, the dance company's current season.

These Artist Talks began as a tool to "create a network of information flowing from the Arts Council and back to the organization so that it can better address needs in the sector during any emergency, especially COVID-19 [x]." However, the talks have become a place of fellowship between artists, and a celebration of the continuation of arts in the city of Baton Rouge. Join the Zoom call on Thursday, June 4th, at 1 pm! Email LRussell@artsbr.org to RSVP.
