The Company:
Gretchen Armstrong began her dance training at Carol Anglin Dancenter in Shreveport, Louisiana and performed with Louisiana Dance Theatre for six years. She has attended Regional Dance America Festivals, Joffery’s Summer Intensive in New York City, Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Summer Intensive, Jazz Dance World Congress and RDA’s Craft of Choreography Conference. She also attended the Tanzammer Innsbruck Festival were she trained and performed in Austria and Germany. Gretchen studied dance on scholarship at New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida before transferring to LSU. This is Gretchen’s third year with OMC.
Amanda Arostegui has trained at Rhonda Edmundson School of Dance in New Orleans for sixteen years. She competed with her studio for eight years in a variety of competitions both local and nationally, including Dance Masters of America. Amanda was co-captain of her high school dance team and helped lead her team to a national title her senior year. She is also a staff member of American All Star Dance and Drill Team, LLC. She currently teaches at Powell-Moise School of Dance.
Alexandra Barbier began dancing 18 years ago. The majority of her training was with BRBT where she danced in their junior and senior companies. Alexandra also enjoys acting and has recently performed in Chicago and Dracula with BRLT. In a few months, she is taking her love for all-things-theatre to New York where she plans to make it big as an actress/dancer/singer/model. She danced with OMC for three seasons.
Claire Preston Broyles a native of NYC, received her early dance training and performance experience at Ballet Hispanico and Neubert Ballet. She continued to study dance while attending Skidmore College, performing under the direction of Paul Sanasardo and Debra Fernandez. After earning a degree in Physical Therapy at Boston University, Claire moved to Washington, DC and trained with Miya Hisaka and Francisco Castillo, co-directors of Teatro de Danza Contemporaneo de El Salvador. Upon relocating to Baton Rouge in 2006, Claire danced with Cangelosi Dance Project, under director Kris Cangelosi.
Carrie Cliburn began her dance training 17 years ago under Donna Blanchard at Powell-Moise, where she is now in her sixth year teaching ballet. She has also learned from Risa Steinberg and David Zambrano through Vienna's ImpulsTanz festival, Ashleigh Leite, Laurie Minarik, and Susan Perlis, among many others. Carrie is a member of the educational organization Dance Masters of America, having obtained certification to teach ballet and modern. Since fall of 2007, she has served as OMC's Associate Director. She is the joyful caretaker of a growing shoe collection and one fake potted plant. Carrie has danced every production since 2002 and has been a featured soloist in Vertical Voyage, Citrus Demise, Luminescence, and at NYC's Dance New Amsterdam.
Micaela Marchand Coner began her dance training with In the Company of Dancers' founder Lisa Hooks Murray at Turning Point dance studio. Micaela trained and performed extensively with the Cangelosi Dance Project directed by Kris Cangelosi. She has attended the Jazz Dance World Congress, the Panoply Festival, and has studied at ImpulsTanz in Vienna. She has choreographed works for the LSU Dance Ensemble, Cangelosi Dance Project apprentice group, Baton Rouge's UnCommon Thread Wearable Art Show, and others. Micaela is an environmental scientist at the LA Dept of Environmental Quality. She joined Of Moving Colors in 2001.
Alyseia Darby is originally from New Orleans, LA and is currently a freshman at LSU, where she studies mass communications and dance. She has been dancing since she was about seven years old. She spent one year and three summers training at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, where she studied ballet, jazz, modern, and tap, during her high school years. Alyseia also won third place in the dance division of Overture to the Cultural Season and received a college scholarship. She is currently training in ballet with Susan Perlis at LSU.
Stephanie Faucette is currently a senior at Louisiana State University where she studies English and dance. At her university she is a member and a choreographer for the LSU Dance Ensemble, the college’s modern dance company. She has also recently danced in the Baton Rouge Ballet Theater’s presentation of Martha Graham’s original work "Panorama" and the LSU Opera’s original productions of La Traviata and Orpheo and Eurydice. Beyond performing, she also instructs jazz at the Dancer’s Workshop and the Center of Performing Arts. This is Stephanie’s first season with Of Moving Colors.
Erin Gilbert began her dance training at The Dancers' Workshop in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she was a senior company member with the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre for many years. Dance intensives she has attended include the Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Parsons Dance Company in New York, and LINES Ballet in San Francisco. At LSU Erin was a dancer and choreographer with the Dance Ensemble. In 2009, she received the first ever "Outstanding Dance Student" award and scholarship from LSU's department of dance.
Jeoffery Harris, Jr. is from New Orleans, LA. His training is in multiple dance forms including Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Hip Hop. He has performed in numerous productions such as: going on tour from North Carolina to Atlanta, performing at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., where his choreography was showcased on the National level at the American College Dance Festival in the top 30 of 431, and performing as a featured dancer in the movie "Who do you love?" Jeoffery was accepted into American Dance Festival at Duke University, and also has performed under the direction of Mrs. Debbie Allen in her Just Dance Production. He is working as an instructor at Danse Noir Studio.
Leigh Jennings has trained at the Phyllis Guy Dance Center for 15 years. She has also studied at The Dance Center and performed in the 2003 Inner City Nutcracker. While working in the college program at Walt Disney World, she attended the Central Florida Ballet School and Spotlight Dance Center. Leigh has received numerous local, regional and national awards both as a performer and a choreographer. She recently returned from working with Royal Carribean on their International Tours. Currently, she teaches at Dream Factory Dance Academy. Leigh also served as the Interim Artistic Director for OMC and has worked with the company since 2004.
Courtney Landry is originally from Baton Rouge, LA. She began her dance training at Machita & Company where she is now teaching and choreographing. Courtney moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she began her professional career performing, teaching and choreographing. While living in Los Angeles she worked with choreographers such as Mark Meismer, Keri LeGrand, Joelle Martinec, Nichelle Bane and Doug Caldwell. This is Courtney’s first season with Of Moving Colors.
Bethany Jones McCullough began her dance training with Renee Chatelain and BR Ballet Theater. She spent one year training intensively at the Alvin Ailey School in Manhattan, also completing intensive studies at the Jose Limon Institute, Martha Graham School, Paul Taylor School, Joffrey Ballet and Vienna Summer Festival. In 2002, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Florida State University and currently teaches Pilates at E-Centrics. Her choreographic debut was in OMC's "Vertical Voyage" and she has danced with the company since its inception. Bethany is married to Clint and lives in Baton Rouge with their two children, Samuel Stirling and Eleanor Rose.
Emily Rodriguez previously trained at Northshore Academy of Dance. She has attended numerous conventions and classes ranging from the Gulf coast region, Las Vegas, and New York. Since 2007 she has been a staff member at Northshore Academy of Dance teaching the contemporary style. She currently choreographs for NAD’s competitive teams, and her choreography has won numerous awards. She has also choreographed for numerous high school and junior high dance teams. She is currently a junior at Louisiana State University, where she trains as a dance minor. This year will be her second year as a dancer with the LSU Modern Dance Ensemble. This is Emily’s first season working with Of Moving Colors.
Anna Schwab danced for 15 years at the Powell-Moise School of Dance, and has been a successful competitor, both regionally and nationally, learning from some of the world’s most talented dancers and choreographers. Anna was featured as the youngest choreographer in OMC’s 2003 Choreographers’ Showcase (Kaleidoscope) and has enjoyed several opportunities to perform much of her own choreography and looks forward to such experiences in the future. Currently enrolled in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Anna is studying creative writing but plans to pursue a career in dance after graduation. Her previous appearances with Of Moving Colors include Green 2004, Vertical Voyage 2005, Playin' Around, and the 2006 peformance of Vertical Voyage in New York City. She danced with OMC from 2004 until 2008, and is back for the 2009-2010 season.
Adrienne Sonnier has previously trained at Dance Connection in Abbeville, LA and Delarue Dance Centre in Lafayette, LA graduating with teacher's courses in ballet, tap, and jazz. For the past 7 years, she has taught at Jete's Dance Company and attended a summer program in NYC receiving teacher certification from Broadway Dance Center. Adrienne was also a three-year staff member for the Universal Dance Association. 2010 marks her second year as a dancer and choreographer for LSU's Modern Dance Ensemble.
Roxi Victorian hails from Washington, D.C., and holds a BFA in Theatre and Dance from Howard University. She previously trained at the north Carolina School of the Arts, The International School of Ballet in Cannes, France, The Jones-Haywood School of Dance, and the Academy of Theatrical Arts. In addition, she studied Shakespeare at the British Academy of Dramatic Arts at Oxford University. Roxi has served as guest choreographer at Georgetown University and has performed and choreographed for numerous theatres in DC and NY. She is currently teaching at Main Street Dance in Hammond, LA.
Rikki Willis has been dancing for eighteen years. From childhood through high school, she danced with Morgan Street Dance Co. in Lafayette, LA. While she was studying for her undergraduate and master's degrees at LSU, she danced with and choreographed for the LSU Dance Ensemble. She recently appeared in Martha Graham's “Panorama” with the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre. She currently resides in Baton Rouge and teaches English at Baton Rouge Magnet High School. This is her first year with Of Moving Colors.
Guest Dancer: Leonard Augustus is a BR native whose credits include the original productions of "Lewis & Clark" and "Men Women & Time" performed in "LISIP" production in Washington D.C. He has performed in BR Ballet Theater’s The Nutcracker as The Nutcracker and Arabian. Other credits include "Lead Player" in Swine Palace’s "Pippin", BR Little Theater’s Westside Story, A Chorus Line, 42nd Street (Best Supporting Actor), Godspell, and others along with productions with LSU and many local commercials and short films. Leonard has been very involved with the "Mid-City Dance project"(former Board Member), which produces the "Inner City Nutcracker" annually. He is Co-director of Liturgical Dance at Christ The King Catholic Church and a choreographer for numerous religious venues throughout the diocese of Baton Rouge. He enjoys gardening and creating a hospitable home for visitors. Leonard has appeared in Vertical Voyage and Lilac, Magenta… Tales of Love. He has also toured with OMC to NYC this past summer. |
